The Delta Soil Health Workshop was held September 21, 2016. Forty people attended the workshop –some came from as far as Juab County. The workshop began with a slideshow presentation, along with guest speakers Grant Cardon, of USU Extension, Paul McCollaum, an area farmer, and Nels Hansen of NRCS. Many area businesses donated door prizes, and a raffle was also held to raise money for future workshops. Oversons Farm Center and Oasis Seed provided lunch, and USU Extension provided transportation and additional information. After the workshop and lunch, Chance Lyman, Delta Conservation District Supervisor, took the attendees to his own farm to show the benefits of soil health. Then on to other farms to discuss cover crops and winter grazing. The tour was a great success! Delta CD hopes to hold other workshops like this in the future, and hopes other areas can do the same.

Fremont River Conservation District hosted a tour today to discuss the watershed. DWQ, NRCS, and County Commissioners attended to better understand the Fremont River, Spring Creek, Fish Creek, and Bicknell Bottoms. Department of Water Quality and NRCS expressed their appreciation in having the Conservation District as a resource. Local input and information is vital to State and Federal research programs.
